Single Payer Universal Healthcare
Providing healthcare for all with a balanced, holistic practice will eliminate health disparities and create a natural reduction in healthcare costs and increase quality of life for all.
Healthcare is a human right. About 7 million Californians have no health insurance, representing nearly 20% of the non elderly population. Many of the uninsured and underinsured are in working families and many are people of color.
During these times of economic transformation more people are losing jobs and finding it more challenging to keep expensive health insurance. Roughly 800,000 children are uninsured and about 500,000 are at risk.
High medical bills are a significant factor in half of all personal bankruptcies. Health care costs have outpaced increases in wages by a ratio of four to one. Today we're seeing that health insurance premiums are also a major contributor in personal bankruptcies.
The healthcare industry is a business and the goal of business is to make profit. Latest estimates show 30% of every dollar is retained by the health insurance industry from individuals and businesses for administrative services not health services.
In the US we pay more per person than any other country and compared to other industrialized countries receive far less quality of heath services.
Holistic physicians operate from a body, mind and spirit connection are often excluded from health insurance policies. Traditional western medicine with a focus on drugs and surgery should not be the only approach. Integrated healthcare which starts with the conventional western model of disease, and encompasses other healing methods, such as use of herbal preparations, biofeedback, acupuncture and other systems of treatment.

With a publicly funded and privately delivered holistic healthcare system, the providers (doctors, therapists, etc) continue to provide heatlh services but the State of California administers and pays for the health services. Eligibility is regardless of age, income, or pre-existing conditions.
Retrain health industry workers, where needed, to other industries, especially sustainable "green" jobs and redesign economic measure to promote small business ventures, which will further improve the health and happiness by encouraging more time with families and community, our real wealth, and lessen economic strain.
