Education reform - Support lifelong public education with an emphasis on giving our young people the tools they need to navigate their way through the sources of information which will enable them to lead meaningful and productive lives.

In the City of Los Angeles, and within the State of California much emphasis is currently being made on edcuation reform to gain competitive federal school funding. The terms or qualifications within this education reform are removing our public education systems and further privatizing education by removing the number of charter schools, and converting more public schools to private schools. This will result in less choice for our children of low and middle income families.

Public instutiions should remain the standard mode of education our youth. and our adult population. Turning over education to corporations, and other private instutions shift the emphasis to profit and not on enrichment of children.

We must oppose state or federal requirements to make significant decisions about schools, teachers or students based primarily on test scores.

Energy - Conservation, efficiency and renewable energy sourves are essential elements of our proposed energy policy. Clean coal does not exist - it is a play on words by the coal energy industry.

Non violence/Anti-War - Peace is not war. Peace can be achieved through non violent conflict resolution. War used to create profit for global corporations at the expense of lives and earth is not acceptable. The soldiers and the civilians, the plants, rocks, trees and animals all matter equally. Being someone who stands for peace does not never will mean I turn my back on those that have chosen to fight whether it be in self defense or for an ideal. Knowing that peace can be achieved without war and violence isn't a weakness it is empowerment.

Over forty percent of the US veterans become homeless and detached from our communities. Many suffer from post tramautic issues, and the victims of war and violence are sadly an after thought or treated as leopards in our society. That's about to change.....
